MENA Rosa was founded in 2010 as the first regional network of women living with HIV (WLHIV) in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) securing an independent niche for WLHIV. Its main objective is to advocate for the rights of women in their diversity, in particular access to quality healthcare services with dignity.
MENA Rosa's utmost commitment is its main driving force. The network strives to reach its goals and outcomes with the support of its donors/partners, building strategic relations to effectively advocate for the rights of women in their diversity, including WLHIV, spread awareness, make accessible evidence-based research, and building local and regional capacities.
The two central governing bodies of MENA Rosa are the General Assembly (GA) and the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors and the GA should wield collective efforts for the best interest of MENA Rosa and govern the network toward sustainable growth, development, and continuity. Thus, the Board and GA should align the network's practices and activities with its strategic direction and purpose; and ensure that the principles of good governance, accountability, and transparency in authority and decision-making processes are applied in all the practices and activities of MENA Rosa.
The governance structure of MENA Rosa includes eligible active members forming the General Assembly and Board of Directors. The Board of Directors is the primary governing body that provides leadership and manages all administrative activities of MENA Rosa in collaboration with the Executive Committee (EC). The General Assembly’s roles and responsibilities fulfill the assembly’s service obligations through active participation and follow-ups for the best interest of MENA Rosa.
All Board and General Assembly members should act at the highest level of organizational integrity, ensuring a collaborative professional environment, and acknowledging and applying MENA Rosa's adopted core policies, procedures, values, and governance principles in their roles and responsibilities.
