Legal Literacy for Women in Their Diversity in Algeria

This project’s goal is the legal awareness and empowerment of women in their diversity, in particular women living with HIV in Algeria, allowing them to improve their lives and their families’ and advocate for their rights.
This marked a new area of focus for MENA Rosa, being addressed for the first time.

In Algeria, in collaboration with El Hayet Association, MENA Rosa conducted a mapping of laws and procedures targeting women. The mapping was translated into Arabic and French to be disseminated to a large audience. In addition, we developed a list of key messages with simplified language, including a detailed list of actions to adopt when faced with Human Rights violations of women.

  •  How can I file a complaint if I experience any form of violation?
  •  What steps should I take if I have been raped?
  •  What should I do if I am a victim of discrimination in healthcare services?
  •  What should I do if my ex-husband does not pay child support?
  •  What should I do if I am a single mother?
  •  What should I do if I am an immigrant?

In January – February 2025, MENA Rosa conducted three legal literacy workshop in Algeria (Algiers, Oran and Tamanrasset)
