Treatment Literacy Workshop for WLHIV

MENA Rosa focused on enhancing treatment literacy among 160 women living with HIV in the MENA region, in particular women in rural and remote areas as well as Sudanese refugee women living with HIV.

As part of this effort, five two-day workshops were held in Egypt: Alexandria, Cairo, Fayoum, Tanta, and Zagazig; and three in Morocco: Guelmim, Tiznit, and Taroudant. These workshops, based on the updated Treatment Literacy Toolkit, aimed to empower women to make informed decisions about their health, encourage treatment adherence and addressing stigma and misinformation.

They encouraged women who had stopped their antiretroviral therapy to resume treatment.

Through collaboration with local civil society organizations such as Caritas in Alexandria, Freedom Association in Cairo and Assocation de Lutte Contre le Sida (ALCS) in Morocco and with the endorsement of the National AIDS Program in Egypt and UNAIDS in both Egypt and Morocco, MENA Rosa reached remote areas with limited access to services.
